Folder 8 New: Knowledge Networking, Training & Education- TO BE EDITED

Destinations competitiveness and success of destinations are dependent on innovation as main criterion to cope with constant change of social and economic elements of market demand and environment. There are multiple actors in creation of knowledge, including, universities, businesses. An institutional approach is necessary to reinforce the network of knowledge creator. Thus, organized training and formal education is a backbone for the process of knowledge transfer, especially in the context of sustainable tourism development. Overall, training and education will enhance the tourism product by raising the quality of personnel and infusing a sense of professionalism and ownership.

The post-industrial era has been characterized by the rise of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and the creation of the global knowledge economy. Investment in the development of human potential through networking education and training is the  primary mechanism not just to foster innovation and to compete to survive individually, but also to work together to meet the common challenges of sustainable  development.  Life Long Learning and ICT skills development have come together in networking processes to bring into existence the concept of Knowledge and Innovation Communities(KICs) or Knowledge Alliances, usually cluster-level networking programmes that are the means to manage our contemporary mass information, training and education needs.
