	Sustainable Tourism Berlin and Sustainable Meetings Berlin are two local certification programs developed for Berlin companies in the event and tourism industry. The certified businesses meet criteria regarding ecological and social standards, economic success and requirements regarding governance risk and compliance. During the certification process and afterwards, the participating companies have the opportunity to improve their sustainable performance with the help of visitBerlins extensive support program, which includes events and training formats. Both the certification and the support programs are funded by the Berlin Senate to support the sustainable transformation of the event and tourism industry. Since 2023, the sustainability criteria for the tourism and event industry have been recognized by the Global Sustainble Tourism Council.

This support program is called the Sustainable Partner Program Internship for students We offer internships on a regular basis Online application Newsletter Networking platform Monitoring / Benchmarking The result that a company achieves in the external audit is recorded and noted on the respective certificate and signet that it receives. The companies are classified in categories from “Starter” to “Leader” depending on their audit performance. The companies can benchmark themselves, comparing with the other or for example via the filter function in the Meeting Guide Berlin, where they will see how the other certified partner performed in the 4 different areas of criteria.
