One hotel and a holiday-park have been awarded the GK and the main beach has a Blue Flag. Annually more than 5 million people visit this coastal town but Zandvoort is easily accessible by public transport. The organic waste is treated in such a way that enables the production of compost and the recovery of energy. It is estimated that 20% of the energy consumed comes from renewable sources and the council is stimulating its increase including the efficiency of energy use in business and some public infrastructures.
