In Limassol, all bathing sites are in compliance with EU guide values and 2 beaches have received the Blue Flag. Environmental aspects are strongly considered in the planning of the coastal area. A new Marina, planned to function in an environmental friendly way is under construction. In the city, measures are implemented to save and re-use water. Also the use of renewable energy sources is placed high on the local political agenda. Silver Award 2011.
