Høve Støtt offers ice climbing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, and kick-sled trips in wild nature. In January there is a unique ice music festival
Høve Støtt is located in the mountain town Geilo, about half way between Oslo and Bergen.
Høve Støtt offers trips with kick-sledges, which is a popular means of transportation in Norway during winter. You can move at about 15 to 20 kilometers per hour. There are other organized trips with snowshoes. Perhaps we will see a fox, a grouse or a snow mouse. There are trips in all kinds of terrain, from great white plains to deep riverbeds. Adrenalin seekers can spend the day climbing frozen waterfalls. There are alternative routes depending on the season and the ice conditions. There are reindeer safaris available as well.
A different cultural experience is the annual ice music festival, at the first full moon every year. All instruments are made of ice. The festival is an ovation to nature, and an ovation to one of world’s most important resources – water.
The shortest route between Oslo and Bergen is the rv. 7 road. Geilo is located about half way between these two main cities. The Rv. 7 road over the Hardangervidda mountain plateau and along the Hardangerfjord is a national tourist route. On the Bergen Railway you travel in comfort and get to Geilo in 3 hours and 30 minutes from Oslo or Bergen. Nor-Way Bussekspress operates a number of buses to and from Geilo, among them the airport bus between Oslo Airport Gardermoen and Geilo.
Høve Støtt’s activities are approved by Norwegian Eco tourism. There is a strong focus on being part of the nature during the activities. Høve Støtt has a local involvement.
