Knowledge Networking Portal for Sustainable & Responsible Tourism
True sustainable development comes from a country’s people, through community initiatives and ecological projects such as ecotourism, conservation and volunteer work. This is what Kumanii lodge stands for, sustainable development, the lodge belongs to foundation Kumanii and is run by local indigenous people. The Chachi and Afro Ecuadorian tribes that live in the Ecuadorian Choco are in charge of the operation of Kumanii lodge. The reservations and marketing have been appointed to Latin Trails an Ecuador based tour operator with offices in the United States. Together we have partnered to offer top of the line rainforest expeditions and sustainable development for local communities. Kumanii lodge was built in the traditional architectural style of the Chachi indigenous people of the Choco in Ecuador and fits in perfectly with the surrounding tropical forest as it extends part of it into its beautifully maintained gardens that connect all areas of the lodge through small paths. Activities you can do are: nature hikes, canoeing, community visits, and taking part in shamanic healing rituals
