Knowledge Networking Portal for Sustainable & Responsible Tourism
RAMSAR LODGE is located in the buffer zone of the Natural Reserve Volcano Cosigüina. This local Community Based Tourism (CBT) Initiative serves to generate additional income to traditional commercial activities in the primary sector (fishing, agriculture and cattle-breeding), and is part of a strategy for responsible management of natural resources in the area. RAMSAR LODGE is owned by COSETUR, a cooperative consisting of 12 local families.
The lodge is idyllically located at the foot of Cosigüina Volcano and at close distance to a RAMSAR Wetlands world heritage site, extremely rich in biodiversity. A stay at RAMSAR LODGE allows you to enjoy and explore surrounding natural reserves: the panoramic views, Summit Crater Lake, wetlands, tropical dry forest with hundreds of species. Start and finish your day in the inviting thermal waters, an adjacent swimming pool with mineral rich hot waters that come from an underground well connected to Cosigüina Volcano. Enjoy the healing waters of this rustic spa, with a sunset view over the wetlands.
