The Blaue Schwalbe was the first eco-label for tourist accommodation worldwide. It was created in 1989 and certifies ecologically-oriented hotels, guesthouses, inns and camping sites in Europe. Most Blaue Schwalbe accommodations are located in travel areas that can be reached easily without flying or private cars. The label is active since 1990.

The BLAUE SCHWALBE uses the Tourism2030 DestiNet Services to show the locations of its certified businesses on the map and to facilitate their market access to the global market.
