Knowledge Networking Portal for Sustainable & Responsible Tourism

I use my experience and international network for assisting Turkish organisations or companies that want to broaden their horizon and international companies that want to cooperate with Turkish organisations or companies. I do this with services such as finding international partners, matchmaking, designing and implementing projects, in close cooperation with my Turkish partner in TRIADA consultancy in Antalya. Need based and bottom up approach are my core values. Since 2009 I focus on sustainable tourism development projects as I find it extremely important for a country like Turkey. I see our main role as coordination of the different national and international actors and efforts in this field because this is essential for the projects to be effective and efficient. Upon request I became member of international Travelife criteria review expert group to update and review the criteria of the Travelife certification schedule for sustainability management. In June 2012 together with English and Dutch Tour Operator Associations ABTA and ANVR and sustainable tourism NGO's ECEAT and the Travel Foundation we have carried out a stakeholders tour interviewing 50 stakeholders in the 3 most touristic areas of Turkey and the Ministries responsible for tourism in order to identify the main challenges for sustainable tourism development and develop common projects to tackle them. Currently I am I am a Travelife for Accomodations Auditor and I am coordinating the SUSTOUR project that aims to introduce Travelife amongst tour operators and travel agencies and educational institutes in Turkey, France and Bulgaria. Dutch is my mother tongue and I speak English, French, German and Spanish and Turkish. Before I established myself in Turkey, I worked 3 years in and with EU institutions in Brussels. Then I coordinated the foundation of the Dutch National Youth Council and managed its international youth participation department. Due to my broad international and intercultural experience, I have developed a sixth sense for making international projects a success.
