My role and interest in sustainable and responsible tourism is ARTUR is a platform that encourages and evaluates participatory processes at all levels of society, which connects and integrates all the factors of political, economic and social life, which directly and indirectly affect the tourism. Artur is a project of Zagreb Society of Architects – ZSA Inspired by exceptional resources which are available to us, we recognised that our task is to find ways to activate them and focus on to achieve better, more efficient, and more sustainable tourism in Croatia. The project of the Artur network opens up a space for communication and a framework for connecting various professions and interest groups that deal with issues of space and tourism. Participants of Artur Programme are urban planners, architects, conservationists, designers, artists, sociologists, economists, lawyers, environmentalists, tourism officials, investors, and, which is of great importance, the local communities, towns, their inhabitants and beneficiaries. Artur objectives are: • promotion of the high quality spatial planning and architecture as prerequisite for tourism’s prosperity and sustainable development, • to actively involve architecture as profession that is vital part of the process of creation strategies for planning and shaping space connected with Croatian tourism development • Creation of professional, social and legal framework for Croatian touristic space development and protection.
