Univerisity of Foggia, Department of Economic, Mathematic and Statistics Sciences. Touristic and Environmental Economics Observatory. The Observatory conducts research and analysis of tourism with particular attention to the problems of government at the local level (province of Foggia and the Puglia Region) and the investigation of specific territories in order to make studies and proposals aimed at supporting the action of public and private sector. In particular, it aims to fulfill the following tasks and functions: - Monitor the tourist phenomena and create a computer database of touristic supply and demand; - Monitor and promote the economic and efficient management of existing environmental and cultural heritage in the local area; - Statistically analyze and process of collected data; - Draw a map of local municipal areas of interest and the existing cultural and environmental heritage; - Encourage and assist public and private initiatives in the tourism industry and the enhancement and management of environmental and cultural heritage; - Evaluate the effectiveness, at local, regional interventions, national and supra-national tourism, environmental and economic exploitation and management of cultural heritage; - Carry out seminars, publications and conferences, which have as their object topics pertinent to the tourism sector; - Develop proposals and provide advice to local authorities in the field of tourism and territorial planning to build a more modern and careful management of the tourism sector and cultural and environmental heritage, thanks to the principles of sustainability; - Turn on any other initiative for the tourism industry for local development.
