Please indicate very briefly their exemplary or innovative actions and measurable achievements (including quantified results if known) |
SDG 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production The tourism sector needs to adopt sustainable consumption and production (SCP) modes, accelerating the shift towards sustainability. Tools to monitor sustainable development impacts for tourism including for energy, water, waste, biodiversity and job creation will result in enhanced economic, social and environmental outcomes. |

SDG 13 - Climate Action Tourism contributes to and is affected by climate change. Tourism stakeholders should play a leading role in the global response to climate change. By reducing its carbon footprint, in the transport and accommodation sector, tourism can benefit from low carbon growth and help tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time. |

SDG 14 – Life below Water Coastal and maritime tourism rely on healthy marine ecosystems. SDG 15 – Life on Land Rich biodiversity and natural heritage are often the main reasons why tourists visit a destination. Tourism can play a major role if sustainably managed in fragile zones, not only in conserving and preserving biodiversity, but also in generating revenue as an alternative livelihood to local communities. |
Exemplary or innovative actions: Since 2014 the resort has had a collaboration agreement with the s'Albufereta Nature Reserve and the Balearic Ministry of Environment to help improve and promote this unique coastal area of Pollença Bay. The special landscape along with a plethora of bird and plant species make this an important ecological area for the Balearic Islands and a wonderful attraction for people to visit. Portblue Club Pollentia Resort & Spa provide an access point for people wishing to visit a nature observatory within the reserve and they have created an interpretation centre where both their guests and members of the public can learn more about the area and make donations to help fund the conservation work being undertaken, with the resort matching these annual donations. They also undertake activities to eradicate invasive plant species from immediate surrounds of the reserve, thus helping biodiversity thrive within the borders of the protected area. At the same time they support reserve management whenever they can with a variety of other activities such as monitoring conservation efforts and wildlife activity, creating and maintaining signage and managing educational installations.
Measurable achievements: Annual donations collected by guests, then matched by Pollentia Club Resort, amount to €6,000 to €8,000 each year since 2014. 100% of the non-native grass on the side of the hotel adjacent to the natural area was eradicated in 2020, as part of a contribution for the total erradication of non-native plants near the wetland. Each year sees more acuatic birds settle in the wetland of the Albufereta, evidencing the good condition of this natural area and its biodiversity indicators, analyzed periodically by the naturalistic technicians of the Balearic Government.

SDG 8 - Decent work and Economic Growth Tourism, as services trade, is one of the top four export earners globally, currently providing one in ten jobs worldwide. Decent work opportunities in tourism, particularly for youth and women, and policies that favour better diversification through tourism value chains can enhance tourism positive socio-economic impacts. |

Public policy and innovative financing are at the core for achieving the 2030 Agenda. |
