development impacts for tourism including for energy, water, waste, biodiversity and job creation will result in enhanced economic, social and environmental outcomes.(Tourism4SDGs)

The leader of the travel agency has an an outstanding understanding of nature ecology of the places visited and of minimising the impact.

SDG 13 - Climate Action

Tourism contributes to and is affected by climate change. Tourism stakeholders should play a leading role in the global response to climate change. By reducing its carbon footprint, in the transport and accommodation sector, tourism can benefit from low carbon growth and help tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time. The certified programme includes 7 days out of 11 days, when no motorised vehicle is used.

For 2 nights, the programme is hosted by a hut with 100% renewable energy supply (mini hydropower plant)

Coastal and maritime tourism rely on healthy marine ecosystems. Tourism development must be a part of Integrated Coastal Zone Management in order to help conserve and preserve fragile marine ecosystems and serve as a vehicle to promote a blue economy, contributing to the sustainable use of marine resources. (Tourism4SDGs)

SDG 15 – Life on Land

Rich biodiversity and natural heritage are often the main reasons why tourists visit a destination. Tourism can play a major role if sustainably managed in fragile zones,  innot only in conserving and preserving biodiversity, but also in generating revenue as an alternative livelihood to local communities.(Tourism4SDGs)

Exemplary or innovative actions:

The leader of the company has dedicated an extensive volunteering time for various actions for research and heritage conservation NGOs, such as:

2018 – Training on renovation of old houses (Isverna Village) Sinaptica Foundation;

2019 – October, Romanian Ornithological Society (Bird monitoring ringing camp in Agigea);

2020 – Wild Orchids research for Iron Gates Natural Park;

2021 – participated at the "Bird Survey along Rivers" (an European water bird monitoring programme), on 11 major rivers in Romania (Bega, Nera, Danube, Jiu, Olt, Dambovita, Ialomita, Prahova, Siret, Jijia and Moldova);

2021 – Developed an interpretation programme for meadows in Armenis Area, for WWF (Rewilding area in South-Western Carpathians, Bison reintroduction programme by WWF).

Measurable achievements:

Based on the observations, WWF has initiated an annual monitoring programme of meadow biodiversity evolution in Armenis Area.

It has been discovered an outstanding population of a rare species of orchids (more than 1000 individuals of Epipastrus Palustris) in Armenis Area.

 

SDG 8 - Decent work and Economic Growth

Tourism, as services trade, is one of the top four export earners globally, currently providing one in ten jobs worldwide. Decent work opportunities in tourism, particularly for youth and women, and policies that favour better diversification through tourism value chains can enhance tourism positive socio-economic impacts.(Tourism4SDGs)
