Green World (GW) was established on Aug. 2, 1988 as an association of environmental protection in the town of Sosnovy Bor, located on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland 80 km west of St. Petersburg. January 31, 1997 GW was registered as a Public Charitable Organization Office of Environmental Justice of the Leningrad region. Dissemination of information on social and environmental problems of the Baltic region, protection of the marine ecosystem of the Baltic, nature reserves on the coast of the Gulf of Finland; involvement of activists and authorities in the region in the protection of nature, environmental education, development of cooperation in the conservation of nature reserves.
