Tools to monitor sustainable development impacts for tourism including for energy, water, waste, biodiversity and job creation will result in enhanced economic, social and environmental outcomes. |

SDG 13 - Climate Action Tourism contributes to and is affected by climate change. Tourism stakeholders should play a leading role in the global response to climate change. By reducing its carbon footprint, in the transport and accommodation sector, tourism can benefit from low carbon growth and help tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time. |
Exemplary or innovative actions: • Climate-positive hotel • Organically built building • Public interest company • Environmentally friendly and self-sufficient energy concept • Inspected by ABCERT • Hotel with charging station for e-cars • The rooms as well as all premises meet the highest building biology standards, are electrosmog-reduced and soundproofed. • In the wellness center only the highest quality natural products are used, partly from our own cosmetic line. • electric car or a variety of bikes and e-bikes for rent for guests Measurable achievements: • 3,46 kg Co2-equivalents/night • 127 tons Co2-equivalents/year • From the very beginning, we relied on renewable energies. For example, our climate hotel generates 40 percent of its energy via photovoltaic and solar systems. We also rely on innovative heat recovery systems. • In April 2019, theiner's garten was named the most climate-friendly hotel in the Alps. ClimaHost is an alpine-wide competition that honors outstanding measures in the areas of climate protection and energy efficiency in the hotel and catering industry. • Special prize of the jury, Mobility Award 2019: The project "Gentle travel with theiner's garten" convinced the jury: With very creative means for sustainable mobility we sensitize our guests. In addition to promoting and encouraging cycling and public transport during their stay in South Tyrol, each guest receives the "ClimaCube" upon departure. |

"Water, a precious commodity" - under the motto, we set as theiner's garten together with our guests and the South Tyrolean Caritas, set an example: With your contribution for our spring water, 100% wells in Ethiopia are financed.
