Knowledge Networking Portal for Sustainable & Responsible Tourism
The Summer School in Leadership and Governance for Sustainable Tourism is an annual event that brings together key representatives of the tourism sector: policy makers, project managers, academics, donors and entrepreneurs. The event has been created by FEST (Foundation for European Sustainable Tourism) to promote PM4SD® as the methodology to apply in tourism projects and to discuss the professionalization of project management in sustainable tourism. This makes the Summer School the perfect place to share practices on how to plan and manage tourism funding with sustainability, and also to improve project management and effectiveness in the tourism sector. Each year, the Summer School takes place in a different European country. Any organisation that shows interest in hosting this event can do so by applying through the call for host organisations.
The first edition was held in 2013 in Naples, Italy, gathering 150 professionals from all over Europe. Key speakers included representatives from international organisations such as the European Commission, the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Environment Programme, the Global Partnership for Sustainable Tourism, the European Investment Bank, Leeds Metropolitan University, among others.
The 2014 edition and will take place in Seinäjoki, Finland from the 1st to the 3rd July 2014, plus the Welcome Day, on the 30th June. It is organised by the Foundation fo European Sustainable Tourism – FEST and the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences – SeAMK, in partnership with Helsinki University, Ruralia Institute, University Consortium of Seinäjoi, the Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia, Leeds Metropolitan University, the George Washington University, Jlag and NECSTouR.
