Българско движение "Син флаг" (Bulgarian Blue Flag Movement)

This NGO has been working since 1993. It implements activities and initiatives dedicated to nature protection, environmental education and awareness raising with major influence in the schools, resorts and municipalities of Bulgaria. The Bulgarian Blue Flag Movement is a full member and the Bulgarian representative of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) – an international organisation with members from over 70 countries, and successfully runs its programs in Bulgaria.

The Bulgarian Blue Flag Movement operates the Blue Flag and Green Key programmes in Bulgaria. The Blue Flag programme unites tourism and environmental sector at local and national level, aiming to promote clean and safe beaches and marinas, to educate the whole community in protecting the coastal environment and to encourage voluntary involvement in environmental action. The Green Key programme is the youngest FEE programme in Bulgaria that aims to raise the awareness of leisure establishment staff and clients, to increase the use of sustainable methods of operation and technology, to run ecologically sound and responsible businesses, and thereby reduce resource and energy usage.
