Malta has been placed on the red list for travel information as of last Thursday by the European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC), due to the spike in Covid-19 cases over the past days.
A country is place on the red list if the 14-day cumulative Covid-19 case notification rate ranges from 75 to 200 and the test positivity rate of tests for covid-19 infection is 4% or more, or if the 14-day cumulative Covid-19 case notification rate is more than 200 but less than 500.
On Sunday, 195 new Covid-19 cases were reported from 3,548 swab tests taken making a positivity rate of 5.50%. There were 5 recoveries. 18 people are being treated in hospital, with 1 in ITU
