Free download: presentations at "1st International Congress on Sustainable Management in Hotels" on May 10 and 11, 2007 in El Rompido, Spain

The Congress was convened by the Fundacion Donana 21 in cooperation with Fuerte Hotels and the Andalusian provincial government inviting hotel owners, tour operators and political decision makers to discuss sustainability with special focus on hotels with an international audience. High quality presentations gave examples of good practice in protected coastal areas. The venue of the Congress, the Fuerte Hotel El Rompido, was purposefully chosen; having an almost perfect environmental management programme the hotel can serve as a model for similar establishments in protected (coastal) areas and demonstrates that sustainability is a competitive asset.

Herbert Hamele, Ecotrans, presented projects co-financed by European Union Funds for promoting sustainability in hotels resulting in practical tools for sustainability management of hotels and other tourism services in Europe: TourBench, Sutour, Train to Eco-Label, TraveLife.
