For tourism businesses, tour operators and destinations in Germany now new tools are available to contribute to halting the loss of biodiversity and to make their good practices for sustainable development more visible.
 
Knowledge Pool Tourism & Biodiversity for the German Tourism Sector
An online Knowledge Pool Biodiversity on DestiNet for operators of hotels, campsites and restaurants, tour operators, travel agents and destinations in Germany provides practical self-checks to identify own strengths and opportunities, Best Practice Examples, a Who is Who and a list of helpful publications, completed with recommended certificates and awards.

Green Travel Map for German Destinations & their marketing partners

The Green Travel Map Germany makes tourist  attractions and products visible that demonstrably contribute to a environmentally friendly and socially compatible tourism in the destination area, proved by certificates, labels and awards for sustainable tourism listed on DestiNet. The map is a planning service for regional marketing organizations and destinations in Germany, used by Germany Travel, by tour operators and booking platforms as reference for the development of their products and services and for their marketing.

                                            

The Knowledge Pool, Biodiversity Selfchecks and the development of the Green Travel Map Germany are results of the project "The Integration of Biodiversity in CSR Processes in the Tourism Industry", realised by ECOTRANS, Global Nature Fund and Adelphi, funded by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN), with funds from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB).
