The organic luxury food manufactory "LuxusGut" offers selected and high-quality delicacies, mostly in organic quality, made in small quantities by hand without additives or preservatives. The delicacies on offer include homemade jams, chutneys, mustards, spice blends and more. With these products, extraordinary recipes can be prepared and enjoyed.

The owner of the one-woman operation Sabine Lenhart attaches great importance to a conscious handling of food, which is also to be expressed with the business name. "LuxusGut" does not mean that you can not afford the products, but rather to represent the value of the product and to embody the message that food is precious.

Sustainability plays a very important role here. For example, only as much is produced as is actually needed. The raw materials for their delicacies are largely sourced from regional suppliers in the Bliesgau Biosphere. Exceptions are components such as chilli, vanilla and sugar, which are then sourced from Saarländischer Bio-Großhandel. Although the regional raw materials are not certified organic, they reflect the idea of sustainability and Sabine Lenhart thus supports the local agricultural businesses through the use of food from the Saarland.

Her environmental awareness goes down to the last detail, so the packaging of the goods is also sustainable. The glasses of the delicatessen products are reusable, because the label can be easily detached and so the glass can be used in a flash for other purposes. In addition, recycled paper or recyclable paper as well as organic cellophane from maize flour and cloth bags are used for the packaging. Likewise, the decoration of wood, felt or other materials at the gift boxes can be reused and are not intended for disposal. However, the responsibility lies with the consumer, to whom an environmentally friendly behavior is appealed.

For Sabine Lenhart, the inauguration of her factory represented a completely new stage in her life, turning her passion for creating new delicacies into a career. From the idea to the actual opening, three quarters of a year went by with planning and preparations, which finally paid off. After a slow start in midsummer 2015, their success began with the first requests for Christmas gifts. Over time, the idea then came to become a pleasure partner of the Saarland and to apply for a partnership with the Biosphere Bliesgau, which also succeeded both. Another significant step was organic certification, which gave customers the official confirmation that organic quality was being used. Today, the products of "LuxusGut" are also available in selected organic and luxury food stores and customers have the opportunity to order desired items in the Online-Shop of Sabine Lenhart. In addition, she presents her products at weekly markets, wine and cheese markets, as well as salt and herbal markets.

OLYMPIC TRUCE WORKSHOPS

The Olympic Truce has survived since 776 BC. The aim of the Olympic Truce workshops is to create an understanding of the inspirational power of sport through the ideals of Olympism and the Olympic Truce, to ensure that this ancient peace accord will play a role in promoting peace, dialogue and reconciliation amongst future generations. European regional policy puts into practice solidarity between the peoples of Europe. Strengthening economic, social and territorial cohesion by reducing developmental disparities between its regions is a fundamental objective of the EU and laid down in its Treaty. The financial means set aside to achieve this objective represent more than one third of the EU budget between 2007 and 2013. While concentrated on the poorer regions and helping them to catch up faster, cohesion policy investments have a significant impact on the competitiveness of all regions and on the living conditions of their inhabitants. Globalisation, climate change, population ageing, external immigration and the need for sustainable energy supply are challenges for the European territory which transcend national, institutional or policy borders. Europe has to fi nd common solutions to these challenges in partnership with national, regional and local levels. Currently some college students from California are developing a project to transform the public school to a bilingual school and they are also working in different ecological projects within in the nature reserves.

That manual emphasizes the importance of not buying or consuming products that come in packages that are not recyclable.

Our philosophy to cause minimum disturbance of the rainforest, led us to the implementation of our bio-digester. This eco-friendly device (a plastic “sausage like container”) is located in the back of our main tower, which allows the transformation of fecal matter and black waters, into methane gas and “Biol” (processed organic material), which is then returned back into the rainforest as fertilizer which is also used in our Lodge. Tapir is also a pioneer in the use of alternative energies, being the only Lodge in Cuyabeno to use solar panels for the production of electricity.
