GSTC for Destinations

Learn about the GSTC for destinations

INSTRUCTIONS

1) Spend 30 minutes looking at each section of the Destination Criteria - A - D below. (2 hours)

2) Spend 1 hour looking at best practice examples related to each of the four GSTC sections

3) Visit the Green Destinations site and look at the destination sustainability profiling system. Make sure that you understand how the Green Destinaitons criteria relates to the GSTC, highlight four criteria that match GSTC categories. (+ 1 hour)

MODULE 4 COMPETENCE TEST

Take 2 hours to make a good practice example of a destination of your choice, using the four sections to structure your example. Upload it to the DestiNet Atlas.

Best Practice Case Studies

learn about best practice case studies

Select 3 -5 best practice examples of a)businesses, b) destinations, and c) tour operators and examine their links to the GSTC criteria (2 hours)
Choose 4 examples to demonstrate criteria from each GSTC category (economic, environmental, social, management) and prepare a PPT to present your findings (1 1/2hours)
Use the best practice template and informally apply it to an SME or a destination of your choice. You will have to introduce the template in a one-minute skype video. (1 1/2 hours)

MODULE 6 COMPETENCE EXERCISE

Taking your best practice template example, add the example to the Tourism 2030 Atlas. Write it up as a magazine acticle length report. Ensure your article includes the relationship between your SME or destination with GSTC criteria. Deliver it as and item in Word file or equivalent linked to the the template description. (2 hours)
