SAVE THE DATE: 03 - 04 May 2023

The "Green Tourism Conference" is the final conference for the EU project "European Tourism Going Green (ETGG) 2030". The conference is a one and a half day event with around 200 participants from the 6 project countries. This international event offers exciting presentations on sustainable tourism in Europe and industry networking at the highest level.

70 SMEs are well on the way to sustainable travel

70 Bulgarian, German, Italian, Croatian, Romanian, and Austrian tourism SMEs, from campsites to quality hotels, are acquiring strictly tested sustainability certificates as part of the EU initiative "European Tourism Going Green 2030" through workshops, international exchange of experiences, expert support, and practical implementation of tailored measures. ÖHV Secretary General Dr. Markus Gratzer is pleased: "Because economic, ecological, and social sustainability are game changers for companies and locations. Getting expert knowledge into practice is not easy, but we have succeeded with the project!"

"This is a major achievement of the ETGG2030 project", says project partner Herbert Hamele from ECOTRANS. "With their certification the 70 businesses will now join the independent global Tourism 2030 - Green Travel Maps . All tour operators, travel agencies and destinations are invited to use the Green Travel Maps for the identification and promotion of their green travel options - and thus to boost sustainable tourism in Europe. There is no time and no need to wait!"

Green Travel Maps for ETGG2030 partner countries

International Speakers

On May 3rd and 4th, the closing conference with Austrian Climate Minister Leonore Gewessler and Tourism Secretary of State Susanne Kraus-Winkler will take place at the Austria Trend Hotel Savoyen in Vienna. A variety of outstanding experts will give participants input on the way to sustainable tourism 2030: Prof. Dr. Dagmar Lund Durlacher, an expert in tourism management at the University of Sustainable Development Eberswalde, provides insights into ETGG 2030 and the associated goals. Prof. Dr. Fabian Weber from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the University of Bern presents scientific findings on "green marketing and communication." Prof. Dr. Stephan Gössling, who advises the UNWTO, the OECD, and the World Bank, showcases the latest research results on climate change and sustainability in tourism SMEs. Michaela Reitterer, ÖHV Honorary President and owner of the Boutiquehotel Stadthalle, the world's first SDG hotel, shares know-how from 15 years of sustainable hotel management and experiences with authorities, banks, employees and guests in a practical way. Ivana Budin Arhanić, Management Board Member of the Valamar Hotel Group from Croatia, explains how an ESG strategy is developed – something that many companies will soon be facing. In addition, the analyses of those experts who accompanied the 70 companies through the certification process will be presented.

Green Meeting & Livestream

The conference will be held in English and as a green meeting on May 3rd and 4th at the Austria Trend Hotel Savoyen. It will be streamed live.
