The purpose of this seminar is to focus on how Linking Tourism & Conservation can benefit the successful development and management of the world’s protected areas with particular emphasis on Marine Protected Areas. Representatives from tourism, conservation and investment sectors will share ideas and consider:
1A. What are some existing examples of tourism that supports the development and management of Marine Protected Areas?
1B. What are some potential examples of tourism that supports the development and management of Marine Protected Areas?
2. What criteria should be used to determine and recognize functioning cases of Linking Tourism & Conservation, and how might they be used for certification purposes and/or relate to the work of other organizations?
3. What are some effective ways to make existing and potential examples of Linking Tourism & Conservation globally visible and serve as resources for learning, up-scaling, replication and investment? What is the appropriate role for the Linking Tourism & Conservation initiative in the future for the benefit of the world’s protected areas?
